Sam“People are very CONTROVERSY over the new LACMA, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, but I just went and it's fantastic. The install smashes century and regionally based curation to bits with historical and contemporary works side by side, and a winder-wander scattering of galleries that displaces the western hegemony and actually allows you to get lost in time and place. You will no longer be able to bee-line to your favorite works of art anymore, but you will see everything with new eyes and encounter diverse perspectives at every turn. It has its issues...time of day makes a difference, lighting is inconsistent, there are some truly bizarre pedestal choices, and sometimes there's random performance art which can be great or horrid, but you know what? A new and unexpected experience in a museum is a rare treat, enjoy!”

Katy“The new david geffen galleries are rich and inspiring. Feels good to simply be in that building, and luckily the architecture showcases just how vast and fascinating the collection is. The entire LACMA campus now feels like a fun community space. The museum is free for LA county residents weekdays after 3pm. One day I will take the metro there and report back.”
