Short Term 12

“Short Term 12 (2013) Written & Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton This has been one of my top films since it came out. Brie Larson, Lakeith Stanfield, and Rami Malek before anyone knew their names, in a small film about a group home for at-risk teens. Quiet, tender, heartbreaking. The Globe and Mail called it "an understated exploration of empathy" and I’m not sure I can say it any better than that.”

“I love this movie. The acting from everyone (an early career Rami Malek included!) is incredible, and the story is genuinely moving. TW: sexual abuse of children.”

“One of the most heartbreaking films I’ve ever seen but so insanely good.”

“Young Kaitlyn Dever is absolutely devastating in this, no one does hurt/rage like her. Very rewatchable too.”

“Equal parts heartfelt, funny, and deeply serious.”
