“Since my first rec was Point Break, it's only right that I now recommend Point Blank, another LA crime masterpiece. I learned about this flick earlier this year through a Letterboxd interview with Jim Jarmusch where he cites this as one of his favorite LA noir films. After recently asking a friend about it, he mentioned that the editing stands out, which struck me. This movie feels so ahead of it's time and in a league of it's own. Not only is the editing advanced, the cinematography is sneakily well done, and some of these performances rocked me to my core. There's a moment where Angie Dickinson slaps Lee Marvin repeatedly that is just one the most memorable instances of fighting on film that i've ever seen. Plus, Lee Marvin as a stoic old badass definitely walked (his characters name is Walker) so Liam Neeson could run. If you like nihilistic LA crime, watch this. It's influence is clear in everything, and yet it's timeless enough to rewatch repeatedly. Enjoy”
