“The best example of a certain kind of 1960’s fun, and one of the few that still work well. Nobody in 2026 wants to sit through CASINO ROYALE (1967) but Phibes and its imitators still hold up. If you like “The Avengers” (no, the OTHER Avengers) or if you just like fun then you should give this a try. If you’re already a Phibes head then I’ll recommend THEATRE OF BLOOD (1973) as the advanced course (with Diana Rigg for extra avengerness!)”

“Possibly the most fun movie I’ve ever seen. Like an perfect, feature length, all-villain episode of Batman (1966). See also Theater of Blood (1973)”

“A campy, eerie classic. The scares in this are tame by modern standards but it's easy to see its influence in everything that's come since. I listen to the music all the time.”
