“A typical Sunday morning is me laying in bed, scrolling through the estate sales within a 50 mile radius from me and mapping out my day until 2 PMish, where I haul ass back home with my spoils. My most prized find is between a vintage Ebony Magazine with MLK and Coretta Scott King on the cover (FOR $1!!!!) or the entire set of stainless steel cookware that I got from a home baker for $30. Maybe the Pottery Barn table I got for $9. You are in competition with resellers, but it makes it even better when you “win”.”

“A wonderful weekend pastime, it has long been a family hobby. A real treasure when you find one of an artist or a collector or an author and get a peek into their interesting life. Most things I own are from estate sales. Here are a few tips: 1) Search for zip codes in the older more established neighborhoods of your city. You’ll often find more antiques that way. 2) The sale organizers usually do a good job of titling the sale, search based on what you’re looking for i.e. fashion, art, furniture. Skim through the photos and see if there’s anything specific that catches your eye, typically there’s more treasures like that. 3) If you go often enough you will begin to know the people who organize the sale. Some are much better at the job than others and you can start to visit their sales specifically. 4) Have a decent idea of what you’re looking for going in so you can have a somewhat curated search while you shop, but don’t be so tunnel-visioned that you miss a real treasure. 5) Google reverse image search is a great resource if you want to know what something is or its value. 6) The final days of the sale have steep discounts, sometimes it’s worth it to wait and shop those days.”

“this morning i scored 5x brand new le creuset stainless steel pans and a perfectly fitting pair of vintage valentino tuxedo trousers, all for $200.”

“No better way to spend a Saturday morning.”

“Love to check it every weekend for good estate sales near me—but it’s maybe the most fun when you have downtime when you’re traveling. A way to see some homes wherever you are, and a good way to find souvenirs that are truly unique.”

“There's nothing better than finding unique treasures AND getting to explore homes all over LA. NOTHING.”

“The essential source for listings of the current golden age of Los Angeles estate sales.”

“Find the perfect way to spend an afternoon — rifling through someone’s house and falling in love with their old things.”

“My favorite way to hunt for unique art, jewelry, glassware, books, vintage quilts and so much more. bonus points if the home itself is fun to explore.”

“endless treasures. plus it's really cool to see inside everyone's homes..... and marvel at how some interiors have stayed exactly the same since the house was built many, manyyyy decades ago.”

“If only I could plan all my weekends around estate sales”

“Estate sales are weirdly liminal to me. Waking around some one’s house and looking at all there stuff with price tags on it. Old relics of their past life and cans of food that they once bought and planned to eat. A little strange to think that after I die my love ones will let random people into my home and bargain for my old vinyls and suitcases. But then I think “what else are they going to do with all my crap” And thinking that some guy in the future can get a good deal on one of my rings is pretty cool.”

“auctionninja, estatesales.net, ctbids, i love estate sales. online bidding is so dangerous for me, someday i will learn to be a mindful bidder, not today. I got banned from ctbids for bidding and winning, then never picking things up, so I made a burner account and now have to use an alias, and say "pickup for fiona" when going to get whatever ive won”

“If you suffer from the same affliction as I do and are driven to hoard collect and decorate your space with old things, and love vintage and antiques, then estate sales are for you. They are my favorite way to treasure hunt. Majority of estate sales are nothing special, but every so often you come across a gem.”

“you’ll be sure to find something ancient and vampiric with diligence 🕯️”

“I just love to rummage people's old stuff. Even better if I find something haunted!”

“I lived in DC and the estate sales were incredible … eclectic treasures from diplomats who had lived all over the world, extensive collections of vintage formal wear, midcentury modern originals. It’s always fun wherever you are, but DC was in a league of its own.”

“Punch in your zip code and find all the upcoming estate sales in your area. LA seems to be a hot spot. Most sales are multi-day. Expect lines early on day 1 and incredible discounts on day 3. Don’t be afraid to respectfully haggle.”
