    “Dazzle camouflage was used to confound German U-boats by making the speed and direction of ships difficult to predict. While the efficacy of the camouflage is debated, the fact that people thought it worked resulted in lowered insurance premiums and increased crew morale. Dazzle camouflage on planes was generally considered to be ineffective.”
