La Piscine

“latest scandalous summer favorite”

“Jane Birkin in everything really but this film in particular. The little dresses, the sunglasses, the denim. Perfect summer wardrobe. In classic Jane style, the clothes never try too hard.”

“It hits every summer! Drama, horniness, beautiful cinematography all at the perfect slow juicy pace of summer. A late movie twist that turns out to not be late movie at all.”

“The grandaddy of stylish pool inspiration: Jacques Deray’s 1969 thriller starring Alain Delon, Romy Schneider and a very young Jane Birkin. With costumes by Courrèges and a stunning Côte d’Azur pool serving as the backdrop for both steamy sex and something much darker. La Piscine is the stuff of mood-board dreams. It’s also a perennial designer reference, popping up in collections from Tory Burch and Simon Porte Jacquemus.”

“Me la vi hace unos meses; aún me acuerdo de los planos, los colores y su atmósfera… Tiene ese punto siniestro (para ser una película tan luminosa y alegre, hablando en términos de estética) que me encanta.”

“Alain and Romy and Jane— and fine. I guess, Maurice too.”
