“the place that started it all. i was (maybe) twelve years old on a trip to san fransisco with my mom, from which i remember very little except nearly melting into the carpet from boredom and indifference at chez panisse café. it’s one of the few moments i’m fairly sure she briefly second-guessed having children. the things i would do to be sitting at that table today with a plum galette.”
