Robert Palmer patiently explains to the void“Love, love love. We had our first big stress test of our Jackery generator (Explorer 2000 Plus) and solar panels yesterday because of a power failure at 7 p.m. on the hottest day of the year. We already lost a refrigerator full of food to the infamous LG Linear Compressor, and I wasn't about to have it happen again in the same year. After two hours of no power, and no estimate for restoration, I plugged the fridge into the battery (at 77%), and then the battery into the wall. The readout said at the current draw rate of 80 - 100W, it would keep the fridge running for 11 hours. (By then, we might be touch-and-go for a few hours until the sun would be up and start charging the battery again.) The power came back on at some point overnight. All our food is fine, and by the time we woke up, the battery was back up to 100 percent. It's a big purchase, but for someone with a prepper-lite brain, completely worth it.”
