“Our street med team provides primary care (and urgent care) services to patients experiencing homelessness while we work to connect folks back with local health systems and long term PCPs. This CLIA-waived POC A1c machine has been one of the most cost-effective pieces of equipment that we carry. It’s a reliable way to screen for & monitor diabetes. The only frustration I have with it is that the machines are coded to the cartridges in the package and therefore have to be discarded after you har used up the cartridges… that’s wasteful, and I hate waste. That said, it’s still darn useful for mobile clinic work, and I recommend it to anyone building their street medicine/mobile medicine lab capacity!”
