Cottonwood Lakes Trail

“This is one of my FAVORITE places to hike, trail run, or plan a weekend (1 or 2-night) backpacking trip. Just 3.5 miles from LA, you get snowy peaks, pristine alpine lakes, and gorgeous forest trails. It’s a 5-mile hike to Lake #1 so expect at least 10 miles round trip. If you’re up for more miles or plan to spend a night, don’t miss Lakes #4 and #5 (shown in this photo). They’re stunning. There’s also free first-come car camping in Lone Pine / Alabama Hills.”
