“Adam Kimmel's eponymous brand was unfortunately short lived — he took a one-year hiatus in 2012 to pursue other projects and never returned. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to work with him extensively ~2017 and got to know what made one of the more underrated NYC designers tick firsthand.
After he graduated from NYU 2001, Adam traveled to Italy to work with tailors before returning home with a small collection of thoughtfully constructed essentials. Three weeks later, he threw his latest collection in a duffel bag and flew to Paris to try to sell it — successfully at that — to Colette then Bergdorf Goodman then Dover Street Market.
Fast forward to Spring 2010, one of the brand’s last collections, he channeled a Western aesthetic with suede chaps and denim coveralls. Jim Krantz, who photographed original Marlboro Man ads, shot the collection on real cowboys on a ranch in New Mexico.”
