“The Vanessa bed is the one Tobia Scarpa designed in 1959 as a deliberate counterpoint to heavy, overwrought bedroom furniture — slender oblique legs, black lacquered metal frame, the whole thing feels suspended rather than planted. Son of Carlo Scarpa, trained architect, and this was one of his earliest masterworks. It went to Cassina after Gavina, ended up in MoMA and the V&A, and remains exactly as relevant as it was the day it was designed. This particular piece ships from Italy and is a vintage original.
