Widow's Bay

“You know, I have no idea where this show is going and that's refreshing. It's horror, it's comedy, it's workplace, it's mythology. It all works because the cast is outstanding - has Stephen Root ever not stolen a scene? - and Matthew Rhys is carrying this with his everyman American charm. (I know, he's Welsh.) I'm very curious to see where this goes and how up the exalted AppleTV pyramid this can climb.”

“It’s like if Pawnee was a haunted seaside town. This is legit scary but also made me laugh out loud.”

“this might be one of the best things i’ve watched all year. the blend of horror & comedy is elite”

“Jacqueline: Widow's Bay, sheer heaven on earth. I want to be swept away into a world of story. I want to be completely taken away.”

“As good as everyone says. Creepy and funny.”

“Shout-out to everyone who rec’d this Apple TV show here, because I had completely missed that it existed. Small-town New England horror that’s both genuinely spooky and full of hilarious deadpan LOL moments and sharp character-driven writing. (Also, Stephen Root!)”

“THE summerween show. this show deserved every single Emmy nomination it got. the PERFECT mix of horror and comedy which is difficult to come by. this is easily in my top favorite shows ever.”

“Surprisingly scary but equally addicting”

“Spielbergian/Stephen Kingian. Katie Dippold is a genius. Dir. Hiro Murai, say less.”

“I hate horror but I loved this.”

“My girlfriend on ft: wow I thought that scream was you Me: no it was”

“Well played. (Also, Katie Dippold on the show being renewed: "Season two is about how everything is great on the island, and there’s nothing to worry about." 😂)”

“Hilarious and spooky. A perfectly cast show about a haunted seaside town.”

“Such a good show. Watched it with my sister and somehow finished the whole thing in three days. Thriller + comedy might be the best combo ever and I love Patricia <3”

“Everyone is talking about it rn so this isn’t the deepest cut. However, I’m currently watching it and it’s hilarious but oh so spooky. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you it’s not. I have to scroll on rec league to not stress sweat. It is really good and funny though so very much worth it. And kinda nice to have state sanctioned double screen time.”

“The hype is well-deserved. I still giggle all the time when I think of random lines from this show. What a wonderfully strange little show that defies genre.”

“the woman who created it is also the writer of the babadook halloween party tweet, widely considered to be a top 10 of all time tweet”

“"Was she in her 40s?"”

“i’ve watched all the episodes out so far, i still barley understand, but me and my mom are having a hoot watching it”

“It’s like Schitt’s Creek meets Stephen King. I’ve never seen a show before where I’m genuinely terrified one minute and then laughing the next. One of the best things on tv at the moment.”

“if you are the kind of person who enjoys twin peaks, this one is for you.”

“perfectly funny. perfectly scary.”

“Matthew Rhys can do no wrong. The supporting characters on this show are amazing as well.”

“If Stephen King wrote Parks & Rec”

“Funny & dark & most interesting tv in a minute.”

“PATRICIA hive, here. What only the real ones call me, usually in a high-pitched tone that hits every single syllable. 😂 My love for books, the Patti Wagon, & then I was watching this episode while wearing almost the exact same design on a white shirt. Spooked in the best way. Making me proud to be a Patricia.”

“a perfect blending of comedy, thriller and horror. a small seaside town stricken with a dark history that continues to repeat itself, run by a stubborn mayor who attempts to turn it into the next big tourist destination. I really enjoyed the dark humour and comedic timing of this one, and the writing is fantastic.”

“I know you have watched it, if not please do.”

“100/10. No notes. Perfect blend of campy horror and comedy.”

“This show is a masterpiece. You should watch it.”

“Not many shows bring together my love of smart writing and dark thrillers with my husband's predilection for dark humor and sci-fi... but that's what Widow's Bay does. Stranger Things meets Jaws meets Parks and Recreation. If you're into watching the mayor of Hawkins pull a full Jaws and refuse to close the beach while a centuries-old curse rises around the island and his crew — a lovable cast of characters who could all be cousins of Ron Swanson, Andy Dwyer, and Tom Haverford — have to fight a historical ghost/shark demon but scarier...  well, then Widow's Bay might be for you.”

“i want S2 to just all be from Garrett’s pov.”

“On a New England island a mayor attempts to bring more tourism in only to find out… May be the island is haunted?? The way the show balances horror and comedy is something I’ve never seen before. It’s an immediate favorite for me.”

“A show that will send shivers down your spine and make you laugh at the same time.”

“Impatiently awaiting each new episode. Did not expect to love this as a scaredy cat who’s not normally into horror.”

“If you are familiar with the ancient texts, you know Katie Dippold can do horror AND comedy. What a gift that we get her mind applied to this premise and an Apple TV budget.”

“First two episodes I was legit scared but laughing also. Funny, clever, I’m not sure how it will end but worth the watch if you have access to Apple TV.”

“Parks and rec x horror x comedy. it slaps.”

“I LOVE this show. It’s funny and terrifying in such an endearing way.”

“It’s just scary enough to keep you on your toes but also laugh-out-loud funny. The perfect combo.”
