“Founded in 1920 in Ikebukuro, where it has been ever since, Takase is one of the last of the grand old Western confectionery shops that defined Japanese yoshoku culture through the Showa era. I've only been to their location in Minami-Ikebukuro, but we got to share their プチショートケーキ or bite-sized strawberry shortcake, and it was the perfect late-afternoon snack.”
