“It's been exactly a year since I bought my UC1, and I have to say, I LOVE THIS WATCH.
The Good (still going strong):
- Build quality is no joke. Mine's been swimming, hiking, and accidentally banged against doorframes more times than I can count. Zero issues.
- The NH35 movement is running +4 seconds/day. Never serviced, never babied.
- Lume is still impressive - outlasts my buddy's Seamaster when we compare during movie nights.
- The minimalist design hasn't gotten old. If anything, I appreciate it more now that I've seen a hundred cookie-cutter divers.
- Versatility is unmatched - worn it to two weddings, a funeral, and countless beach days.
The Less Good (being honest):
- The bezel action is still tight after a year, but has developed a tiny bit of back-play.
- The crown threads feel slightly less smooth than when new.
- The original rubber strap disintegrated after about 8 months of daily wear in hot weather.
Unexpected observations:
- It's become my "comfort watch" - the one I instinctively grab when I don't want to think about what to wear.
- I've tried it on probably 15 different straps. Current rotation is a dark brown leather for office, olive canvas for weekends, and a Tropic-style rubber for summer.
- The 40mm size that initially felt "just right" now feels perfect after the current trend toward smaller watches.
- It's developed a subtle patina on the case that gives it character without looking beat up.
Would I buy it again? Without hesitation. In fact, I'm eyeing their chronograph now, which says something considering I've flipped every other watch I've bought in the last two years except this one.
For those wondering about long-term value: these limited editions tend to hold steady or appreciate slightly, but I couldn't care less because this one's not leaving my collection.
If you can buy one get one. You won't be sorry.”
