“Black long sleeve tee with "TO HELL WITH MY SUFFERING" on backside. The artist often costumes digital avatars that appear in her video artworks in shirts with this phrase inscribed. A prominent instance of this is in her 2021 film, DED in which a character made from a 3D scan of her body navigates a virtual landscape and is repeatedly shot and killed. Syms comments on the violence that Black bodies face in this surrealist "performance" of self-inflicted suffering.
