“This might be the most toxic thing about me, but I loved Materialists. Celine Song is my queen and I think her dramatization of what it's actually like to be single in this modern age is exactly why it made so many people so uncomfortable. (And also revealed how so little people have seen Broadcast News??) I love talking to people about this film, no matter if they hated it or not, but in all honestly, the most interesting conversations I've had about this movie are with people in long-term partnerships who see it as a mirror held up to their own relationship and choices.
