“This came out a year ago and is still in regular rotation for me. I had not heard of Barker prior to this but he quickly achieved "must listen to everything they've made" status.
There is still not an appropriate name for a particular breed of electronic music that Im drawn to, and Im mostly grateful for that. IDM I guess would be the closest, but most ppl just associate that with Autechre and Aphex - and this is not that.
Its a gorgeous album. Its not ambient. Its not dubtech. Its meticulously crafted and thanks to youtube I learned he used some very unconventional and analog devices in the making of this.
When people ask me exactly what kind of electronic music I listen to, I send them this. (and maybe a dubtechno playlist too).”
