“Okay admittedly this is not something I stumbled upon in a grocery store because it’s my cousin’s business!!! Rollen has been instrumental in Carolina Gold and heritage grains returning to fields down south. If you’ve ever bought rice from Anson Mills (or maybe you went for red fife flour…idk your life) he probably harvested it! Here’s a Washington Post article that touches more on his history as a fourth-generation rice farmer.
Anyway he and his wife opened a store in Hardeeville, SC but you can also buy rice and middlins (and sea island peas for hoppin john!!!) online. Also, Carolina Gold IS more nutrient dense than your plain white rice but who cares! Eat rice! It’s great!”
