At the sound of the oboe, I waddled onstage with my duck family of four, waiting for the right musical cue to pluck a feather from my tail. Sergei Prokofiev created Peter and the Wolf specifically for children, telling this fairy tale through narration and musical composition. He used characters to introduce his audience to different instruments. The clarinet became the Cat, a flute the Bird, an oboe the Duck, and so on.”
Sarah“I’ve been showing my toddler classical music videos on YouTube. This one shows the musicians performing alongside gentle illustrations. We’ve also watched a few YouTube clips from Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 like Rhapsody in Blue and the dancing hippos.”
