LUX

“A religious and spiritual experience. Close those ojos and turn this on”

“Not to be dramatic but this album is transcendent. I cried listening to it the first time, and seeing her perform it live was genuinely a spiritual experience which also brought tears 🥲. Every time I listen I cannot help but dance like I’m possessed. She sings in THIRTEEN languages on this album! The music is deeply stirring and the lyrics are profound. Rosalía wants us to never forget that the sacred and the profane are the same.”

“To call LUX By Rosalía a masterpiece would be a great understatement. It’s more like her induction into sainthood. Throughout the course of LUX, Rosalía reaches across time and language (13 to be exact!) and sings about/to a myriad of historical female saints and mystics ranging all the way from Joan of Arc to St. Clare of Assisi to Rabia Al’Adawiyya to Hildegard Von Bingen to Ryōnen Gensō. She connects her own spiritual journeys to these women on songs like Reliquia, where she compares lost pieces of herself to the Catholic ritual of collecting relics, or like on De Madrugá, where she channels the divine rage and determination of St, Olga of Kiev, singing, “I do not seek revenge, revenge seeks me” in Ukrainian. And this is all without even mentioning the PHENOMENAL vocal and musical performances across this record. Along with perfecting her operatic vocal technique, the whole album was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra (!) I’m fortunate enough to have tickets to the LUX tour this June and have been counting down the days. To see an artist so resolute, cultivated, and self-possessed is a blessing!”

“Incredible album. Reliquia and Focu ‘Ranni are the songs that move me the most.”

“Gorgeous and smart, this album by Barcelona native, Rosalía, impresses the hell out of me. Each song is inspired by a female saint and the album is sung in 14 different languages. It's a true work of art and will move your not only your body, but also your heart--even when you don't understand what she's saying.”

“Defies description. And Bjork AND Yahritza make appearances, my god.”

“this is ART!!!!!”

“Yes, it's a repeater. But also with reverence. My first listen through was on col, early morning hike and it was a transformative experience. I can't believe we get to be on this planet at the same time as Rosalía. What a remarkable human.”

“Truly incredible musical journey”

“I recommend listening to this album from start to finish. The songs have become a part of my daily playlist. An album with layers”

“Orchestral, spiritual, moving”
