“8/10. Let's Dance is easily the most commercial album of Bowie's career up until this point, maybe ever. Released after a 3-year hiatus, where Bowie released international hit "Under Pressure" wth Queen and starred on Broadway in The Elephant Man. Let's Dance really sees Bowie lean into his status as a legacy rock act. It sees him bridging the generational gap, leaning into the new sounds of the early 80s in the best ways, especially in songs like Modern Love and Criminal World. Let's Dance also features some of the best guitar playing on any Bowie album, largely thanks to a young Stevie Ray Vaughan. Side note - I would have loved to see a collab between these two in the 90s, we were robbed! Highlights are Modern Love, China Girl, Let's Dance, and Cat People.”
