“there is a memory buried in my sub of my great grandmother mary taking a shot of extra virgin olive oil at the antique dining table in her haunted pittsburgh home. i was 2, and she was 101. from an early age i dedicated my american-italian youth to spreading The Good Word about olive oil. because obviously my great grandmother mary loved that shit. for example, there is good olive oil for drizzling and good olive oil for cooking. there is good olive oil for moisturizing and good olive oil for making your hair shine and your knuckles smooth over. there is good olive oil and bad olive oil period. and not all of them are virgins. but the good olive oil adds to everything. for the purpose of this recommendation, it adds to a bowl of oatmeal with medjool dates and cream, a little sea salt and maybe some dark chocolate. rip grandmother mary she would have loved this breakfast dish.”
