Sense and Sensibility

“A very good rainy day movie, possibly the best J.A. adaptation (c/o Emma Thompson). Everyone is a bit sad, a bit damp, a bit manic and beef is too expensive.”

“The score. The script. The direction. The yearning! One of my favorite sick day watches.”

“This is such a pleasant and lovely story. It presents two sisters as foils for one another while still being complex and interesting. Some Austen purists do not like the movie. However, I think it’s wonderful.”

“The cast, the locations, the soundtrack, Alan Rickman ❤️ The pining, the humour. Picture perfect period drama and a tonic for when you are sick or needing a hug in movie form.”

“everything about this adaptation is perfect and somehow even alan rickman”

“perfect. feel those feelings ladies.”

“two sisters navigate love, loss, and limited options in the english countryside. emma thompson wrote the screenplay and stars as the eldest sister, quietly falling apart with dignity. the rare period drama that earns every feeling it asks you to have.”
