“John Allison is my favorite comic book writer/illustrator of all time. He lands a joke seemingly every 3 panels (at least!) with clever asides, and a joke drawn deep in the background while he's at it. There's a team of teenage mystery solvers, a timeline-hopping goth, a really rugged (sexy) priest, he's has built such an expansive universe! And much of it is online. Charlotte Grote is a favorite character of mine, so I'm linking one of his more recent storylines, but his website archives years of clever comics, so you now have hours of free, hilarious stories at your fingertips.”
