“La Casa del Abuelo is where Madrileños have gone for generations to drink a chato (short glass of sweet wine) while practicing the beloved tradition of standing at the bar, peeling shrimp, and tossing the shells directly into the marble trough under the bar. Since I was a child, I've loved sitting at the open window, which now looks out at its expanded seating; still can't bring myself to use the trough.”
