“As a young girl, I loved the idea of telling people that I loved black & white films. I fantasized about putting them on in the evenings, about knowing all the classics and all the stars of old Hollywood. But I never actually did those things. I Know Where I’m Going enchanted me. It held my hand and showed my just how magical, thoughtful and romantic film use to be. It brought me to a world I’ve never stepped in, showing me you’re not so different, are you? It showed me the painstakingly work, details that went into films to transport its audience - the writing, the costumes, the sets and all the clever little tricks. It showed me a level of care I hadn’t seen in a film in years. They wanted me to believe I was there, to believe this story was true, they cared about what they had created, and cared about my experience within it. This film turned me upside, and all for the better. And it will (most likely) introduce you to Wendy Hiller, a powerhouse British actress I had never heard of, but immediately fell head-over-heels for. Now, I understand why people love black & whites.”
