DIY Hair Cutting Classes

“I love my hairstylist as a person, but I think we’ve always had slightly different visions for my hair. The last time I went in, I wanted it even shorter than she cut it, but I chickened out on asking for that. Two months later, I was bemoaning the thick bulk that’s grown in and feeling lukewarm about making another appointment where I wasn’t going to get exactly what I want… and I started thinking seriously about cutting it myself. Enter: Jayne Matthews’ entirely too enticing Instagram, full of cute, fresh razor haircuts and her cheerful insistence that you can give yourself the exact same thing. So I bought one of her DIY classes and it was so valuable to learn her technique and hear her talk through all the anxieties people have about cutting their own hair. Even though I was sure I was messing it up the whole time, I did the cut this morning and not only do I think it’s so cute, but I feel SUPER confident that the next time it grows out weird, I can just whip the razor out to get it back to exactly how I like it. I feel like I’ve learned a huge new skill!”
