American Chestnut Tree

“Is there a better symbol of love than planting a tree together?? American chestnut trees are mostly extinct now due to a deadly blight from Asia that was imported in the late 1800s. In less than 50 years, this incredible tree that populated the Eastern Seaboard was almost completely gone. (Read Richard Powers' The Overstory for more, and there's more details at the link.) However! The American Chestnut Foundation is working on creating a blight-resistant tree and YOU CAN HELP by planting seeds! Become a member, plant some trees, help revive the American Chestnut--and celebrate your five-year anniversary all at the same time :)”
