“During the pandemic I trained my hair to only be washed about once a week (it was a good time to be greasy when no one could see me except for on Zoom…) and I’ve never looked back. Highly recommend washing your curly hair as little as possible. Also: it’s a major a time saving hack! That said, when I do wash my hair, I take my time. My beloved hair stylist of 13 years taught me that curly girls should should be conditioning BEFORE we shampoo! This protects the curls from drying out during shampooing. I’ve been through a lot of different conditioners over but Olaplex No. 5 has been my ride or die now for years. Once I’ve done my double-shampoo (Step 2), I condition again, even more thoroughly, and leave it on until the end of the shower.”
