“Last week I was staying with friends in BK. We walked home from dinner at the neighborhood pizzeria. In the distance I saw a Mr. Frosty truck and realized a couple blocks were cordoned off. As we neared the scene, I was overwhelmed with joy watching the scene. A neighbor had set it up so that all kids got free ice cream. They all ran around with cones while parents milled about, talking. My friends said this happened every week, and that the neighbor who had set up the open streets with the city had dedicated years to navigating the red tape. But it immeasurably changed the neighborhood for the better. I love this. We should all have something like this. And we can.”
