“My favorite part of this garden! I interplant my climbing rose with a clematis and look forward to it most all Spring. Any variety will work, but I like this Iceberg climbing rose (voracious, hardy, pretty good immunity to blackspot, responds well to moderate pruning/maintenance) and Duchess of Edinburgh Clematis (this one is very slow growing, but has incredible double blooms and is hardy after the first few years. If you wanted an easier, single bloom white, try Henryi). The roots of clematis like some shade - I sent Sedum/Catmint, but anything with similar sun/water/soil tolerances and non-aggressive root systems will do. [I'm zone 7b]”
