Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide

“Printed format only, please, and the older the better. Generic guides like “The Video-Hound’s Guide” are even better than the name brand. The goal is to have an encyclopedia of every movie that a professional could imagine you ever seeing in 1997. Open your copy to a random page and let the alien world of the past swirl around you. They made a whole movie about a cat with a human brain! A haunted sandwich! Take a Borgesian odyssey through the strange ideas of yesterday.”
