“I loved this article from Harper’s last summer. I love writing that straddles the line between the personal and the journalistic/academic, especially when it’s about OCD, since my own interest also plays along that line. I wrote a paper a couple years ago about the biomedical concept of mental illness, and it made me think about my own OCD education as a patient, which was very much on the neuroessentialist side of things. I really appreciate the way Kay digs into the potential social forces behind OCD without making any sweeping conclusions. And it’s just lovely storytelling.”
