I have such complicated feelings about Franzen's writing in general. On one hand, I can't put down his books and they are so intense. Some weird male author stuff definitely shines through though. I love parts of this book and I am annoyed by parts. It is still incredible though and really worth a read I think

I read this book for the first time probably 6 years ago? I still love it. It's sci-fi, but the sci-fi elements are really a tool to discuss other issues. One of the best books that is about mental health at its core without being openly about mental health. It's incredibly hopeful and got me through dark times. One of my favorites ever.
