My favorite meals in Paris have been at Le Cheval d'Or. I've been going here since it opened with Taku Sekine at the helm, and I have always loved that the founding team kept the original 1987 restaurant facade while completely overhauling the interior. It's since gone through several team iterations, following Sekine's death, but I find that the French-Asian cuisine here just keeps getting better and more popular. Eric and I used to walk in regularly and plop ourselves down for dinner, but now that Beyoncé and Gwyneth are going here you will need a reservation. It will be worth it. This whole pocket of the 19th is becoming a real draw for food (see my other rec on Soces, down the street), so take a walk around the block and check it out.

“French Chinese cuisine that is beautifully presented in a minimal airy space. Best place if you have a group so you can try everything.”

“One of the best meals I've had all year. Le Cheval d'Or is the lively project reincarnated in an old Chinese restaurant in the 19th arr. Exec chef Hanz Gueco puts out some of the most inventive, seasonal plates gorgeously blending Chinese and French cooking from a wide open kitchen (the chefs counter is the best seat in the house imo). Lovely hospitality and a fantastic natural wine list guided by”
