Queen Victoria Market: Slightly overwhelming but I love traveling to central markets for parallel play among adults with different tastes. Near transport so it’s easy to leave, and if it gets too much Rose Garden is a great Chinese restaurant nearby with an incredible roast duck fried rice.

Daphne: A public house in Brunswick East celebrating great food, booze and neighbours. Anything goes, everything's delicious, and nothing's too fancy.

I ate here last night and MY GOD it was good. Sat at the bar right by the kitchen, so we got front row seats to the chefs doing their thing (creating art with food). Would happily eat here every day for the rest of my life.

Sporting Club Hotel: A fancy pub but still a pub nonetheless. i love this place because i usually get stressed going to pubs because i'm allergic to beer and the thought of ordering a vodka soda with the old funky lime wedge that the bartender cut 3 days ago doesn't always float my boat. but HERE i had the good fortune of discovering one of the most delicious tasting wines i have ever slurped.

Green Refectory: Heaven since 2004! It's always been consistently great without any pretence, but it used to get so cramped and busy. They've recently expanded next door, which means I'm 100% more likely to go here now.

I love their smoothies (they come in really nice glass bottles that I reuse) and their cakes and pastries are so yum. The best parts: this place is still so down to earth  after so many years and still so reasonably priced despite a cost of living crisis.

Capers: Greek heaven. My favourite place in Naarm. Decor is like someone's yiayia's living room. The food, cocktails, wine, staff, music, art, everything - is all 10/10. Perfect date spot!

Geralds Bar: a staple of the melbourne restaurant scene for two decades, the famous Gerald's has recently upgraded their location to a (much) bigger and arguably better spot. i miss the cosy atmostphere of the old Geralds, but i'm glad the new location means they're able to cater to more Geralds fans. food and cocktails are just perfection. plus, they have a sister bar in San Sebastian!
