Estate planner here, HIGHLY recommending that you get an estate plan in place. The truth is nobody really wants to think about their estate plan, but it's better to do it now than mid-crisis. You probably have a good excuse for why you haven't done one, but it's probably not a very good excuse no matter how good the excuse sounds (sorry to say).
(Okay, off my soapbox, let's get back to the fun stuff.)

How often do you recommend getting them updated once they're done? I think ours was put together in 2018 ... ? š¬
I recommend a review every 5 years or so and whenever there is a significant life or financial change. If you had a good planner, they likely were very forward thinking about possible scenarios, so hopefully most circumstances are covered and no updates are needed, but it's always a good idea to take a peek from time to time and make sure you still like all the decisions you made!
