Spending 4 days and 3 nights camping in Joshua Tree. Looking for recs for things to see and do to escape the morning heat (truly don’t know if it will still be hot) before retreating to evenings of dark sky.

Go thrifting in Twenty-Nine Palms

I believe it's Twenty-Nine Palms, at least! That's where I stayed in a hotel for a few days in Joshua Tree, and I found the coolest thrift stores. Lots of interesting people spend time in this part of the world, so the thrift stores were full of really cool things.

Volunteer run astronomy experience! We loved it. If you can’t make one of their scheduled events, stargazing at one of the designated spots inside the park is also amazing

For a true break from the heat, dip outside the park for lunch at La Copine! One of my favorite meals I’ve had in a long time. Be sure to text in advance for a reservation!
