Every couple of years it seems this restaurant (and its casual breakfast spot next door) has a bit of an identity crisis; I still miss the OG, Legume, which was white tablecloth and one of the very best meals I’ve ever had (that Chicken Cooked Under a Brick!!). But Butterjoint is very solid. Get the pierogis to be extra Pittsburgh. Vinegar pie is very fun, too.

“The place where I discovered the joy of vinegar pie. Tasty, unfussy dinner options in a friendly, unpretentious room, and in the morning, the attached cafe (Sidecar) has pie slices to go, an assortment of baked treats, and very good fluffy egg sandwiches.”
