This is about how Madonna's new album has dramatically changed my internal self-talk to be nicer to myself and other people. Occasionally I randomly get really anxious in crowded places, like at the grocery store - I feel like I'm in someone's way, or like I'm not moving fast enough, or that I'm somehow Doing Things Wrong. And also it often feels like everyone else also doesn't know what they're doing, in a bad way (see: many memes about how it's everyone's first day on earth at the grocery store for some reason). You know where I'm NOT anxious even a little bit? A super crowded dancefloor. Now when I feel unnecessary anxiety happening I just tell myself that I'm on the dancefloor OF LIFE - there's no wrong way to dance, everyone is just feeling the music in their own way, no one is policing you. You might dance with another person, and it could be really nice, and if it gets uncomfortable or you don't like it, you can just dance away. If someone cuts you in line, you can quietly mutter "Everyone here is a work of art" (Danceteria, 2026) and tell yourself that they're just bumping elbows with you on the dancefloor. This system also reminds me that, just like I genuinely enjoy being on the dancefloor, I genuinely enjoy being around lots of other people in general. Obviously this is super corny and embarrassing, but I have to say that it works for me.

“Dance music from the queen. Love how she constantly reinvents herself while staying true to her core. This album is a love letter to dance floors and versions of Madonna past.”

“I’m so glad Madonna is still at it. Her new album is giving Immaculate Collection energy, but for the dance floors of 2026. What a career, what an icon, what a badass lady!”
