These images feel like they tell the unabridged story of the scruffy-looking kid you’d see hanging out at a random gas station somewhere in the midwest. Before he became the illustrious Micheal Brodie, Mike Brodie was a kid with a camera, hopping trains across the country. This monograph is one of my all-time favorites.

this is one of my all-time favorites. St. Gil is the perfect example of how the curation of images is just as important as the images themselves. i love how this book moves effortlessly between intimate portraits and landscapes/the built environment, balancing one another in an unexpected yet beautiful way. 10/10. Even the size is perfect, on the larger side at 33.5 cm x 46.2 cm the portraits truly stand out.

Wolfgang Tillmans Four books taschen

Taschen published a collection of books for their 45th anniversary that I just discovered this week. I like how this volume of Tillmans images recontextualizes his work and introduces his idea of “parallelism” in relation to his various interests and and subject matter explored through photography. I’m still flipping through the pages.
