A magical place in the tiny Swiss town of Vals. The therme designed by Peter Zumthor is an incredible experience. I would go early in morning and late at night at dinner to experience the baths. The main hotel guest rooms are much larger than the architects wing.

About an hour from Tokyo. Amazing hotel with buildings designed by Shigeru Ban and Ryue Nishizawa. A very calming and relaxing hotel with excellent onsite restaurant. If you appreciate architecture it’s a must.

LaGuardia Hotel
•••
Very nice boutique hotel on Giglio Island. Giglio is pretty under the radar still imo. LaGuardia’s restaurant has a fantastic view of the sea and the breeze is magic. Private little beach area. Very rocky beach. Water is crystal clear and so refreshing.

Marktgasse Hotel

The Zurich hotel scene can be tough on rates and the Marktgasse strikes the right balance for me. Nice clean design in a historic building right in the center of Old Town. Soeder bath products a nice touch.

Quiet boutique hotel a few blocks from DuPont Circle. Tree lined street. Nice clean design. The restaurant has more Nelson pendants than a DWR.

Hotel Schwarzschmied
•••
Fantastic hotel in Lana. Palo Santo scent hits you on arrival and the hotel is set in a vineyard and surrounded by mountains. South Tyrol is one my favorite parts of Italy. Mountains, hiking, beautiful wines, architecture and mash up of Austrian/German/Italian cuisine.
