Yes, my friend wrote this, but dang if I'm not in awe of her and this potent, empowering, loving book. Franco makes the case for us to embrace our own worthiness by 1. feeling and accepting our full range of human emotions, 2. addressing the baggage we attach to distressing emotions, and 3. facing painful memories through memory reconsolidation and a whole array of body-based, mindful, and family systems techniques. Chen gave me language around sexual desire, attraction, and behavior years ago. Her nuance and openness is lovely. The book got me thinking about big questions around sex, sexuality, romance, disability, consent. What if romance didn't determine rights to benefits of partnership/marriage? What if sex doesn't drive a relationship. Easy to read, recommend whether you're ace or not. If you want a taste before jumping into a book, her podcast interview with Ev'Yan Whitney is great.
