Corey Seager showing rare hype when he tied Game 1 of the WS with his 9th inning home run: For a man that rarely shows emotion in this game, this turned all of us die hard Texas Rangers fans into Corey Seager fans for life.

This swing and this moment have been memorialized forever. I still get chills thinking about it.

Mighty Mary, 1995: The tl;dr of this all is that in 1995, Bill Koch (yes, of those Koch brothers, but not evil) decided to front a team for the '95 America's Cup race--and this team was made up of WOMEN. All women! For the first time! People viewed it as a stunt but they were INCREDIBLE and beat Dennis Connor of Stars & Stripes. Unfortunately a secret back-room deal during the trials meant that Stars & Stripes went ahead and competed in the America's Cup instead of Mighty Mary, and the ladies of the boat are finally getting justice with this new documentary--in which the men actually admit they did something WRONG.

In any case the moment when these women WON was my favorite sports moment. Sailing is intensely physical and requires a great deal of strength--12 metre boats don't let you just push a button to raise the sail. This was an incredible feat.

It Was A Good Day: Dodger’s Stadium, October 26, 2024, around 5pm, World Series Game 2 against NY Yankees, and, surprise, ICE CUBE rolls out singing “It Was A Good Day.” The whole stadium sung & grooved along—even the Yankees dugout was head-bobbing along... Total Unity and Happiness in LA. The Best Day in LA.  Period. And we won. :)

Carlos Alcaraz’s 5:29 Roland Garros 2025 win over Jannik Sinner: This match epitomized why live sports is one of the best forms of entertainment. Two young rivals, atop the game, with contrasting styles battling it out, point by point, one dominating while the other struggled. The tables turn and a miraculous comeback ensues. The match is decided with 10-point tie-break in which Alcaraz makes an insane winner. The match was the longest in RG history at 5 hours and 29 minutes, during which neither took a bathroom break or medical timeout. And when all is done,they hugged at the net and Alcaraz humbly acknowledged his win while celebrating his rival. Gotta live it!

Brock Purdy comes in for the 49ers: if ya don’t know, the nickname for the last person to get picked in the NFL Draft is named Mr Irrelevant (rude!) That draft year was a QB named Brock Purdy, who was deemed too short and not strong enough to be a Pro QB, but john lynch drafted him anyway. albeit last. In 2022, us 9er fans thought our season (lives?) were over when we lost QB1 AND QB2 to injury and watched in horror as our QB3, mr irrelevant, ran onto the field mid-game.

…Brock Purdy goes 25/37 and throws 2 touchdowns, winning the game. He beats the idol of his childhood Tom Brady in the next. He is currently on pace to hold the all time passer rating in the NFL, not to mention gone to the super bowl. He’s still considered to be good, not great. But you have to love a story about a guy COMPLETELY discounted by the entire establishment. These things don’t happen every day. This was a miracle and I watched it in real time.

Mariano Rivera Final Outing: Mariano Rivera is the greatest closing pitcher of all time. He had announced his retirement. This would be his final outing at home and subsequently his final moment on the mound ever. He had already secured the All Time MLB Saves record.

They had teammates (Jeter & Petite) take him out of the game instead of the traditional manager (first time ever). These two had played with Mariano for his entire career and came up through the system together. Taking him out early meant they didn’t let Mariano finish the game or get the save so he could have his moment to walk out. It showed that sportsmanship, friendship and Respect is more important than any win. His impact on the game was unprecedented so this required an unprecedented finale.

Never seen anything so heartfelt in Sports. Everyone was crying. Including all the players and every person watching.

Mariano Rivera was the first and only unanimous entry into Major League Baseball’s Hall of Fame.
