this film is peak surrealism & perfectly executes those gut-wrenching childhood fantasies that feel like nightmares. silly in its own way but visually so arresting. like it feels like you're watching a scrapbook being put together and the colors are just ugh i couldn't stop thinking about it for daysss after i watched it for the first time

one of a kind. five stars. ten out of ten. i love weird shit & that's why i love boots riley. & i love quirky black girl characters & we deserve more time on screen to share our talents with the world. & lakeith stanfield's character was such a freako creepo i couldn't stop laughing. truly amazing.

My heart just peels open for Maria Irene Fornés– one of the most magnificent playwrights in the whole wide world. Her passion, ferver, & love for art, for PEOPLE seems to only have deepened with age & the loss of her memory. May she rest in peace~ every artist should watch this as a reminder to move forward with joy. What a tender documentary, made with so much love, so much closeness. No matter what she forgot, she never forgot the beating heart in her chest & it it will certainly pulse with us forever♡♥︎♡
