Helena Tyrell's biomorphic snail sconce commissioned in the 60s for French libraries was the vintage deep dive I didn't know I needed. Her origin story? Languished for years in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, France, at the top of a stairwell leading to a library of about 2000 books -- couldn't be more perfect for this memoirist. Coveted upon first sighting she arrives to my two-room stone-house upgrade in a few days. Non vedo ora.
