Outernet London

Don’t forget to LOOK up! Several outdoor rooms to visit here. Open air and I believe it is open all of the time, near Tottenham Court Road. Exhibits change frequently so save time to enjoy this fully. Some of the best digital artists are showing their work here.

Team Lab Borderless
•••
When in Tokyo, Team Lab is the place to see some of the latest digital art exhibits. Located in Azabudai Hills (excellent market, coffee shops, shopping, and a really good bakery). Get your tickets early, sells out everyday. Timed entry but no limit on how long you stay. This digital space is definitely a place ro get lost and immersed in the experience.

Carrieres -Lumieres
•••
This was my entry into digital art and is probably my favorite venue, cool massive stone caves built into the mountain in Les Baux in Provence. This experience is all encompassing and inspiring.

Don’t forget to look up! Always stop here when in Paris (mostly in the food halls). If you look past all of the merchandise you can find some beautiful details.

Who knew that there were this many succulents. Beautiful to wander, staff super friendly and helpful. The shop is dangerously enticing but every new family member is thriving.

Le Comptoir - Paris
•••
One of the benefits of staying at the Relais St Germaine is the ability to get a reservation in the restaurant. Large menu, hard to decide as there are so many enticing dishes, but no matter what I ordered it was perfect!

Hôtel Relais Saint-Germain

Love this hotel. Convenient location. Staff works very hard, the served breakfast in Le Comptoir dining room, flipped it to a full house every night - I think the kitchen in the basement. The croissants were some of the best I’ve ever had.

Collecting Japan's Eki Stamps (national geographic article)
•••
I love adding a mission to a vacation. In Japan this is easy - collecting the Eki Stamps at temples, shrines, train stations, museums … it is a treasure hunt. Any notebook will do. Some places will have pages preprinted which can be set between pages. I always try to use the stamp pad as it has the history of all the people that stamped before me. I recently found my notebook from 15 years ago and I smiled as I saw the haiku that my mom and my wrote.

Gotokuji Temple
•••
A busy temple unlike any I have seen. Hundreds possibly thousands of Manekineko cats. The longest line was the one to get a cat and a stamp. Very fun visit. Lore: “One day, a lord on his way back from falconry was beckoned by a cat at the temple gate and decided to stop by.While spending time at the temple, thunder suddenly rang out and rain began to fall. Having gotten well out of a thundershower with an enjoyable conversation with the temple master, the lord was impressed by this luck that the cat brought. The lord was Naotaka Ii, the lord of Hikone domain. Financially backed up by Naotaka, Gotokuji temple was rebuilt in 1633.”

World Food Markets
Grand Central Market - Los Angeles
•••
Every place I travel to an open air market is always on my itinerary. This one had a collection of food booths that made it difficult to decide what to eat. So fun!

MIL

An incredible experience in Peru. Every detail is well thought out and tested. The flavors are remarkable and service professional and kind. Each course comes with a lovely card that makes up the menu at the end. Local pottery, handmade paper are just a few of the artisan products used throughout the meal. Oh yes and the chocolate!!!! They use every part of the cacao bean for their desserts and chocolate bars.

Naoshima
•••
One of my favorite places ever. Art is everywhere on this island — from the many museums to the scattered art houses, it’s an inspiring place to wander. A stunning round-up of Tadao Ando’s architecture complements the gorgeous sea views.
