National Galleries in Edinburgh

Such lovely art museums. I was unsure how the National Gallery would compare to London’s, but it’s just gorgeous. Make time for the Scottish art (including the embroidery pictured!), and also the old masters if that’s your thing. The National Portrait Gallery is also to die for - Google it, you’ll see why!!

About an hour outside of Belfast, the Giant’s Causeway features naturally occurring hexagonal columns of basalt. This picture doesn’t really do it justice; nature is crazy!

Holyrood Abbey

Edinburgh castle is fun, but OMG so crowded. Holyrood abbey is close and less crowded and beautiful ruins with interesting history. Also vintage shopping in the haymarket and there used to be a place on the royal mile close ish to the castle with amazing violet ice cream.
